1. Start with how you want your day to feel. Before you tour anything, get clear on the atmosphere you want. Do you picture something slow and intentional, or energetic and full of movement? Private and intimate, or lively and social?Write down 3 words that describe your ideal day—then use those as your filter when looking at venues.

2. Think about logistics early (not just aesthetics). A stunning venue can quickly become stressful if it’s not practical. Ask:

• Is everything in one location (ceremony, cocktail hour, reception)?

• How far will guests have to travel?

• Is there enough parking, seating, and restrooms?

• What’s the backup plan for weather?

A smooth, easy flow will make your day feel more relaxed—and that matters more than you think.

3. Pay attention to lighting. Lighting impacts everything, especially your photos. When touring a venue, go at the same time of day your wedding would be. Notice:

• Are there large windows or natural light indoors?

• Are ceremony spaces in harsh sun or open shade?

• Will your reception feel dark or well-lit?

Good lighting = softer, more natural, timeless images.

That feeling matters more than popularity, trends, or anyone else’s opinion.
