How to Survive (and Actually Enjoy) Your Summer Wedding Day
Summer weddings are beautiful.
Long golden evenings, warm air, that soft glow that lingers just a little longer.
But they can also be exhausting if you’re not prepared.
Here’s how to not just survive your summer wedding day—but actually enjoy it.
1. Hydrate more than you think you need.
Start drinking water the day before—not just the morning of. Dehydration sneaks up quickly, especially when you’re busy, emotional, and in the sun.
2. Build your timeline around the heat.
If possible, avoid long outdoor photo sessions during peak afternoon sun. Opt for shaded areas or schedule portraits closer to golden hour when the light is softer and the temperature drops.
3. Choose breathable fabrics.
Your dress, your suit, even your shoes—it all matters. Lightweight, breathable materials will make a huge difference in how comfortable you feel throughout the day.
4. Plan intentional breaks.
You don’t need to be “on” every second. Step away for a few minutes. Sit. Breathe. Drink water. These small pauses will help you stay present and energized.
5. Have a heat survival kit.
Think: handheld fans, blotting papers, extra deodorant, cooling towels, and water bottles nearby. It sounds simple—but it makes a difference.
6. Trust your photographer with the light.
Midday sun can be harsh, but there are always ways to work around it—shade, angles, movement. You don’t need to stress about it. That’s what I’m there for.
7. Let go of perfection.
Your hair might fall a little. You might get a little sweaty. But none of that takes away from the meaning of your day.
In fact—it makes it real.
Some of the most beautiful summer wedding images aren’t perfectly polished.
They’re warm, alive, a little messy—and full of feeling.
And that’s what you’ll remember.
